Suburbia transformed- Urban Permaculture 3- Bill Mollison GG

Question: Where can I go and live off the land/grid somewhere warm where I can grow my own food ,and live without money?

The US is not even on the top 10 list of the best countries to live in anymore. Analyst on wall-street about 5 years ago told me that there will be an end to the middle class -some of the rich will stay rich and the majority will be or become poor. There are many rich powerful people doing everything to make this happen. They analyst said to go to Australia . I want to know where I can go and ideally live off the land/grid possibly a land trust,grow my own food ,live by Permaculture standards,warm/hot oceanic climate,no money system,no govermental interference,no environmental extremes/dangers.

Answer: Northern New South Wales in Australia for the perfect climate..little humid in the summer for a short time. Sub tropical climate. Bananas, mangoes, pineapples , papaya grow abundantly. All manner of cool climate foods grow well there too. Later or earlier plantings is all.

I sold all my belongings at 29 and took my two small sons. We lived in a caravan for 12 months.
Only enough money to pay for accomodation. I found a pumpkin patch on a vacant buliding block. We ate it fried, boiled and mashed ( we don’t do holloween with pumpkin we eat it) washed down with sweet black tea. This for about ten days. Emerald green rainforest girthed by warm and sparkling blue waters. Got a little hand line and caught my first fish. Beautiful big mullet. I was estatic. Life was never more abundant.
My brother got an old cycling bike with a cracked handle bar. Rode it around the block the night before he cycled 2,000 ks to come stay with me. Got a job on the prawn trawlers on arrival. By this time I had learnt to fish quite well and he would bring home buckets of some of the catch.
Got very organised with the kids to accomodate having an extra…O what bliss. ..Mate! you wanna see this place.
Much of the beauty has been obliterated by greed. I do believe though north from NSW into the state Queensland this utopia can be found or made..
Have a great journey. Don’t spend to much time procrastinating. Its all the deep -end anyway this life. At least your making it interesting. Cheers
